The original bee motif is a signature design of La Rochère glassware and was inspired by a famous pattern that belonged to Napoleon. The l'abeille or bee is also a symbol of the South of France and its rural landscape.

Founded in 1475, La Rochère is the oldest running glass factory in France and one of the oldest in the world. The classic Bee design glasses were inspired by a set of glassware owned by Napoleon during his reign as King of France.
